Pick one company: Either manufaturer, distributor, wholesaler or retailer.
You have to decide how much beer you want to order each week. Everything else will be calculated for you in the game.. The rules on how to play and the game rules have been attached and a sheet to log your ansers to make it easier for you to track what you are doing.
Then answer the following following the instructions.
Briefly discuss the lessons learned from the Beer Game. As part of your answer, make sure to explain not only the various causes of the bullwhip effect, and their resulting consequences, but also possible strategies to mitigate it. Then, provide a real-world example of the bullwhip effect. This example could be either from your own industry experience, from personal observations (for example, executive presentations, site visits, or firsthand discussions with company officials) or from publicly available information (such as news reports). Again, try to identify causes, effects, and solutions. As you will probably not have enough information to fully understand the firms supply chain and all of its inner workings, feel free to make reasonable assumptions, but make sure to specifically identify and appropriately justify them in your report.
Reports must be at least four pages in length (double-spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12). Reports will be graded primarily on the items listed above (lessons learned, causes/effects/mitigation strategies, and real-world example). Proper grammar/spelling and minimum length will also be considered. Be sure to provide appropriate references as well.
