This activity prepares you for Paper #1: Selecting a Developmentally Appropriate Book for Preschools. The dinosaurs stall bedtime in the beginning, but the laterones are able to follow their routines and get ready for bed with a teddy bear.
Take a look at the partial content of the book on the following pages and then answer the following questions.
1. What major preschoolers developmental characteristics (behaviors, abilities, needs, etc.)are demonstrated in this preschool book?
Describe how the characteristics are shown through the illustrations or text.
2. What can some caregiver interactions be used, in addition to reading this book, to help with this sleep related problem and promote development of children?
3. What other aspects of the book are also appropriate for preschool readers? Consider about the illustration, vocabulary, font size, length of sentences, etc.
Please reference specific textbook information on pages 256 while answering questions #1 and #2. For question #2, you may answer with your own thoughtsbut need to also paraphrase some textbook information to support your answers.
